In a few days, I will be off the grid. My brother is going to take me sailing, shove me into a kayak, and hopefully teach my twins to ride their “big kids’ bikes” without training wheels.
This will happen at a salt water lake in the middle of the prairies.
This is the same brother who whisked me away for four days on a canoe trip into the Canadian Shield two weeks before my wedding in 2000. (Incidentally, I had only been home one week from teaching in the Middle East). Digging latrines–and dragging a “bag of wine” behind a canoe to cool it off–on Canada Day are two of my best memories.
This is the same older brother who taught me how to wrestle.
So, go to my other blog, the one I co-write with the always-hilarious Chase McFadden, and see the latest installment on StuffKidsWrite.com. It involves my brother and one of his daughters.
I present: “Bunny Masks, George Orwell, and Summer Camp.”
See ya on the flip side, eh?
